Gato Suárez

Photographer and dreamer

The Los Angeles-raised photojournalist-turned-yogi documents the characters, nature and changing light of Ibiza with stark, beautiful imagery. His work can be bought through his online art shop.

Gato's Top Tips:

  1. The international bookshop Libro Azul stocks almost every book written in or about Ibiza, from novels to photography and cooking. There's also contemporary literature in English and German and Reishi-infused coffee and iced tea from the lovely owner, Sophia.
  2. Casita Verde is an ecological gem nested in the Benimussa mountain valley. Stop by during Sunday's open house to enjoy a vegetarian lunch and a tour of the gardens, where you'll learn about renewable energies, permaculture, aloe vera and making sweet carob syrup.
  3. Between 2 and 4am you'll find me at Itaka, an underground hole in the wall with a tiny stage curated by the owner, Pilar. It's a real music-lover's spot and anything goes, from flamenco to fado, jazz, rock and blues.
