Future-proof modern art hub on the water

This Herzog & de Meuron–designed landmark is the essence of Miami’s architectural vernacular. Perched on stilts over Biscayne Bay, it’s a super-sized, ultra-modernist beach cabana draped in lush, tropical foliage. Airy, white-on-white spaces house contemporary works by Sol Hewitt and Jenny Holzer along with arguably America’s finest Latin-American collection; look out for Haitian-born Edouard Duval-Carrié and Carmen Herrera, the Cuban-born geometric modernist (and centenarian!) whose first show was in Miami. Round off with a stroll through the verdant waterside Sculpture Garden.

Want to party with the art set? Hit up Thursday night’s waterfront happy hour, with cocktails on the terrace and live DJ set by Phaxas.
