Notting Hill

Vintage and healthy rasta-bohemian vibes

Fast becoming a wellbeing mecca with an abundance of raw, plant-based and healthy restaurants (Nama, Redemption, Farmacy, Farm Girl), it won’t be hard to stock up on energy before tackling Portobello Market – which should be done on Friday instead of the tourist-heavy Saturday. First stop should be Golborne Road for antique finds, then make your way down to One of a Kind for top-tier vintage fashion – think designer labels from seasons past: Tom Ford, Jean Paul Gaultier, Stella McCartney. When you’re done? Head to Tonkotsu for a bowl of ramen, Galicia for the real Spanish deal, or posh dim sum at E&O. Just want a drink? Window seats at The Electric Diner make for great people watching and if it’s coffee you’re after, head to the fair trade, organic Coffee Plant.

Top tip:

One of a Kind has a secret room for those truly exclusive pieces, but it’s by appointment only, so call ahead. And make sure you hit a cash point before you head to the market. Most places take cash only and the queues for the cashpoints – especially on weekends, can be outrageous.
