Morro Fi (Consell de Cent)

Day drinking, Catalan style!

If you want to take part in the morning ritual of fer un vermut (do a vermouth), head to Morro Fi. Order a homemade classic vermut negre and some boquerones at this small, overflowing vermouth bar; their homemade crisps in red aperitivo sauce are fun too. Morro Fi in Catalan means “refined snout”, or to have a gourmet palate: so think dishes with olives, caper berries, anchovies, sardines and red peppers stuffed with goat’s cheese. It’s all about opening up your horizons here!

Top tip:

Take home some Catalan culture – buy some of the pickles, conserves and bottled vermuts before you leave. They even offer a kit with palillos (toothpicks) and napkins, so you can drink in the morning like a Catalan wherever you are in the world.
