Miami Editor's Tips
1. Casual Restaurants
Much of the city’s quick and quality eats can be found across the water in Wynwood. If you’re looking for something ocean-side on Miami Beach, be sure to venture a couple blocks off the sand.
2. Upmarket Restaurants (Party/Lively Restaurants)
Because of its Latin roots, Miami just might do late-night dining better than any other city in the country. 11pm dinner reservations at lively spots are common, so expect to go dinner to dance floor.
3. Nightlife Bars
Many of the newest nightlife spots in Miami have opened in the Wynwood area, offering a more relaxed and slightly less pricey alternative to the famous South Beach. But if top-tier music acts and sparkling Champagne bottles are in order, there is no alternative to South Beach. Regardless, spending at least one night of your weekend in Little Havana is a must.
After you’ve exhausted Lincoln Road, head back across the water to the Design District for some modern inspiration for your house back home, and check out the Wynwood neighbourhood for Miami’s up-and-coming designer shops. If you’re in need of top name brands, the shops in Bal Harbour are your best option.
Any city where you can wear a swimsuit 52 weeks a year is likely to be obsessed with health and fitness. Countless spas, juice shops, fitness classes and the like can be found throughout the city. Stick to the SoBe area.
Explore Little Havana by night and experience the energy of Cuba, transported to Miami by the thousands of Cuban residents. Eat, drink, salsa.
7. Close to the Hotel
The ME is perfectly located within walking distance of Miami’s major performing arts theatres and sporting arenas. Check the calendar for what’s on while you’re in town.
Miami’s various neighbourhoods are all within a short drive from one another – give or take 20 minutes – making it a pretty small and compact city by global standards. Be mindful of rush hour traffic.
9. ME Faves
Sunset from The Rooftop Bar is hard to beat!
Parking can be a nightmare in the city. Taxis and Ubers are your best mode of transit as valet and parking costs can add up very quickly.
