Lyle’s

Seasonal British fare in a stripped back Scandi setting

Laidback and cool with polished concrete floors, simple furniture and large industrial windows, Lyle’s is for those who love good food but hate white linen. A favourite among foodies and hipsters alike, the ethos of the menu, like the décor, is ‘less is more’. Smoked eel with beetroot and horseradish, ox tongue with ramson and onion and guinea fowl terrine – it all works, and it has a Michelin star to prove it. Forgo the fixed priced set dinner menu and go for an à la carte lunch instead. Can’t get into Lyle’s? Walk 10 minutes to the equally impressive and also Michelin-starred The Clove Club.

Top tip:

Lyle’s runs a popular ‘Guest Series’. The concept: a high profile, trailblazing chef takes over the kitchen for a one-off dinner. The Babette in Stockholm, Raymond’s in Newfoundland and Rosetta in Mexico City are just some of the names of previous collaborators. Keep an eye on the program online.
