Las Letras

The old-school literary haunt

Home to the great writers of the Golden Age of Spanish literature such as Lope de Vega, Góngora, and Quevedo, the barrio has succumbed to modern times. The Santa Ana Square, dominated by Hotel ME by Meliá, pulsates in the summer with tourists and locals alike, meandering through or sipping on drinks on many of the outdoor terraces. To get a whiff of the old artistic times, wander down the little streets and explore the antiques stores.

Top tip:

Ana La Santa, the ME Hotel's restaurant by Grupo Larrumba, trumps all for a coffee or late dinner on a balmy weeknight thanks to its greenhouse décor.
