Óscar Velasco’s fuss-free bar dining spot
While his two Michelin-starred Santceloni might be all about ornament and presentation, Óscar Velasco’s second restaurant is all about the ingredients. The focus here is fuss-free bar dining, and open all day, it’s become a meeting point for those who live around the barrio of Salamanca. The name pays homage to captain Alejandro Salamanca’s ship, which voyaged to America and Asia in 1789, and this is reflected in the global menu choices, too. Alongside Spanish classics – bocadillos, patatas aliñadas and ibérico ham – you’ll find options like Russian salad, veal soup with Chinese noodles, and ravioli stuffed with mussels.
Dine in one of the restaurant’s two private areas to escape the hustle and bustle of the bar, and if you’re here for lunch, make sure you order one of the bocadillos.
