Ivorypress

An underground gallery and bookstore

Opened by Norman Foster and Elena Ochoa in 1996, this gallery – an old garage in Tetuan – is a treasure trove of some of the best photography, architecture, fashion and art books in the capital. Unlike other galleries, you enter through the bookstore before descending to the impressive white gallery space.

Top tip:

The permanent exhibition, The Artists' Books – which have been exhibited in the Victoria & Albert Museum – is a series of “books” published by the Ivorypress as works of art and designed and produced by acclaimed artists such as Anish Kapoor, Damien Hirst and Ai Weiwei. If you want to flip through them (with white gloves on), be sure to make an appointment.
