Cala d'Hort

Perfect paella in front of mystical Es Vedra

This far-flung rocky cove, way out past San José, has a small-ish sandy beach flanked by two restaurants and a cluster of driftwood fishermen’s huts. It's a favourite with locals who flock for the excellent paella at El Carmen and with those who can't get enough of the jaw dropping views of the majestic magnetic rock, Es Vedra, shearing vertically out of the sea in front.

Top tip:

Follow the path behind the fishermen’s huts and scramble up the rocky steps to Es Boldado, a clifftop fish restaurant with spellbinding views of Es Vedra.

Not hungry? Then hire a dinghy on the seashore and head between Es Vedra and the shore to find Atlantis, an ancient stone quarry that's home to saltwater pools and trippy carved Buddhas.
