Bermondsey/London Bridge

London’s food paradise

Restaurants, cafés and bars – without contest, Bermondsey is London’s unofficial food capital. This is especially so on Saturdays, when the unassuming Rope Walk, under the railway arches, turns into Maltby Street Market, aka foodie nirvana. Filled with London’s best artisan food and drinks producers, plus plenty of pop up bars and cafés, Bermondsey is where you come for everything from craft gins (Little Bird Gin), interesting bars (Lassco has a restaurant/bar in with the antiques), and delicious baked goods (St. John Bakery) to Jewish soul food (Monty’s Deli). Don’t miss ‘hole in the wall’ haunt (Tozino) for a smorgasbord of Spanish cheese, cured meats and jamon.

Top tip:

Hugely popular, the day starts from 9am, so get there early to give yourself more elbow room. Should the mood strike, meander down Druid Street Market, if only for a F.A.T. kimchi and stilton grilled cheese sandwich.
